About Our Brains, Our Selves
What makes us who we are? Friendship, family, love – or something more fundamental?
Royal Society Book Prize-winning neurologist Masud Husain shares how our brains shape our sense of self, in conversation with broadcaster Claudia Hammond.
Through powerful human stories, Masud reveals how changes to memory, language, motivation and empathy can radically alter identity and, in some cases, restore it. Through people who lose words, stop caring what others think, or misinterpret their closest relationships, Masud illuminates the workings of the brain and shows how modern neuroscience is reshaping our understanding of illness and what it truly means to be human.
There will be a book signing after this event.
